Developers Perspective: Workflow that works

Website development follows a loose set of procedural guidelines that determine when, where, and how long it ends up on our development schedules. It can cycle for as little as a week or for some of our larger clients several months. We have worked out a process that allows us to maximize our time spent face to face with the largest gains during development. My personal development cycle at ImmmergeTechTM and how it correlates with the overall company strategy.

  • Work with client to determine how their site should function
  • From a function diagram, develop a loose wireframe of the website
  • Confirm the wireframe with the client and analyze it for usability with Immerge staff
  • Design a working mockup from the wireframe. Aesthetics and functionality are top priorities
  • With a confirmed mockup, start developing the site templates
  • Replace template placeholders with dynamic code
  • Program any additional features
  • Preview the site and go into revision cycles until project completed.

It’s a pleasant mix of both agile and requirements driven development. This approach does however require the client to be forward and honest with their needs. This development process has been refined over the year to put our individual skills together and get the highest quality projects out-the-door with realistic deadlines and minimal base revisions.
